4-H History

2002 was an exciting year for the Connecticut 4-H Program. We celebrated
the Centennial for the national 4-H program and the 89th year of 4-H in
Connecticut. Our first 4-H club was organized in 1913 in Mansfield, CT.
Starting in 2001, a small group of volunteers and staff met to consider
celebration plans.

One of the major projects which came about as a result of the Centennial was the development of the publication entitled: "4-H Youth Development In Connecticut 1952-2002: An Overview of Who We Are and What We Remember." This publication picks up where "Forty Years of 4-H Club Work in Connecticut" published in 1952 leaves off. The publication celebrates the
national Centennial while documenting Connecticut's rich 4-H history.

If you have any corrections to the 4-H History, please email them to
nancy.Wilhelm@uconn.edu. If you would like a complimentary hard copy of
the 4-H History Book, please call 1-888-FOUR-H-CT.
